I thought I was done for the season with very little honey. In fact, there was less honey at the end of August than there was at the end of July. The dearth we had in August got my huge populations eating their honey reserves. But I was going to pull my supers, treat, and prep for winter when suddenly my bees were going crazy! I went out for a peek and saw massive amounts of bees flying and the majority coming in with yellow and orange pollen; LOTS OF IT! So, I'm going to leave them alone for a few more days, and when the temps drop back down to the upper 60s and low 70s, I'll pull my supers and treat. I'm glad I was lazy and didn't give up on them! Hopefully, I'll have some honey after all!
At the Funny Farm in Vassalboro, we caught 2 last-minute swarms that we may merge with other hives we have there. But Ethan is feeding sugar water, and they are sucking it down jar after jar.
How is everyone else doing?
